FLAVOR ALERT! FLAVOR ALERT! FLAVOR ALERT!
Petit Trois opened today!
The three culinary musketeers Jon Shook, Vinny Dotolo (Animal, Son of a Gun, Trois Mec) and Ludo Lefebvre (LudoBites, Trois Mec) have joined forces once again to bring you a small, twenty-one stool and counter, traditional french bistro right next door to their already infamous collaboration, Trois Mec.
At lunch Petit Trois is a sandwich only restaurant, and that is what Ludo Lefebvre wants it to be; a little taste of his home, on Highland, serving classic french bistro cuisine.
Here’s the kick, and with these guys there always is one.
No reservations are taken. No tipping. (18% gratuity is added to every check.) No cash, credit cards only.
For lunch the doors open at 12:30 and they only prepare 200 sandwiches a day, and when they run out, no sandwich for you!
Petit Trois’ lunch menu changes daily so check your twitter feed ladies and gents for updates!
I got the traditional jambon-beurre (ham and butter on a baguette) and my girl got the pan-bagnat (salade nicoise sandwich on ciabatta.)
Both were delicious and prepared with the finest ingredients and care that you would expect coming from this trio. The ham had a honey kick and the butter was creamy. The chopped cornichons added a lovely texture and complemented the butter with a little bitterness and salt.
I loved the baguette and the ciabatta breads. Whoever is baking their breads… they got something special going on.
The Nicoise sandwich was light and flavorful. The tuna was soft and delicate but delivered quite the punch. Coupled with fresh produce and hard boiled egg… I was a fan.
The fact that Petit Trois’ got a kickass cocktail menu and I can have a drink with my sammie in the afternoon… is righteous.
As for dinners at Petit Trois you can expect a little more predicability as they will have a set menu: steak frites, mussels marinieres, chicken confit, that kind of thing.
But arrive at a reasonable hour because when the clock strikes 10:00PM the kitchen turns into a pumpkin… well no, a croque monsieur actually. That is all they make until midnight, which sounds good to me.
I love breakfast for dinner.
Merci gents, you keep upping your game!
